What ArborProof is
ArborProof is a directory of tree service companies and arborist consultants in Ontario. We compile information about these businesses from public sources and publish it, along with a score we calculate ourselves from that information. We explain exactly how that score works on the LEAF Score page.
We are not a tree service, a broker, or a referral agency. We are not a party to any agreement between you and a company listed here. We don’t take a cut of any job, we don’t dispatch anyone, and we have no role in the work a company does for you.
The information here is researched, not guaranteed
Everything on a listing is our best understanding at the time we looked, from the sources we name. It can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong — businesses change owners, let credentials lapse, move, and close.
Specifically:
- WSIB clearance status is what Ontario’s public register showed on the date we checked. Coverage can change at any time, and a company we couldn’t find in the register may still be covered — our methodology explains why.
- Insurance information reflects a document a business gave us and we read on a date. We are not told when a policy is cancelled, and we do not confirm that coverage is still in force.
- Credentials come from the International Society of Arboriculture’s public directory, which is voluntary. A qualified arborist who never listed themselves there is invisible to it.
- The LEAF Score is our own calculation from the factors we publish. It is a summary of what we could confirm, not a judgment of workmanship or safety.
Always confirm current insurance, WSIB coverage and credentials directly with a company before you hire them. Nothing on this site replaces that conversation.
Using this site
You may use ArborProof to find and contact companies. You may not scrape or bulk-copy the directory, resell the data, use it to send unsolicited commercial email, or misrepresent it as your own.
If you’re a business listed here
Being listed is free, and so is claiming your listing, correcting it, uploading proof of insurance, and publishing your starting prices. If you believe something we’ve published about your business is wrong, tell us — we’ll look at it and fix what’s wrong, free, whether or not you’ve ever paid us for anything.
When you claim a listing, you’re confirming you’re authorised to act for that business, and that what you tell us about it is true.
Limits on our liability
ArborProof is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from any dealing with a company listed here, including loss arising from information that turns out to be inaccurate or out of date.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Who runs this
ArborProof is operated by Aaron DeVos in Hamilton, Ontario.
Changes
We’ll post changes to these terms on this page with a new date. Continuing to use the site means accepting them.
